Amazing Machines at an Amazing ATV Rally!
Memorial Day Weekend should first and foremost be a time to reflect and take time to think of those who have gave the ultimate sacrifice. A time to remember how so many have given their lives, and how so many others have lost their loved ones. A time to be grateful for the ability to live in a Country were we can be free.
Secondly (but clearly less important), Memorial Day Weekend is seen as the "unofficial" kickoff to summer. In Hurley, WI this means ramping up for hundreds and hundreds of ATV & UTV enthusiasts to visit the town...quite literally doubling its size in 24 hours. Instead of being angry about the tourists however, the town of Hurley welcomes the offroad community. In fact, they welcome them. They welcome them because Iron County has gone out of it's way to great an ATV & UTV paradise.
Memorial Day Weekend in Hurley, WI is filled with different events. Everything from a 4 day poker run, to one of the largest (if not the largest) ATV Rally in the Midwest. These are only a couple of the events which take place along the (almost) 200 miles of trails the Iron County offers. The entire area welcomes riders and goes out of its way to help make the area ATV friendly. There are multiple towns and many establishments that you can hit right off the trails, and with how the area is setup there is really no reason you would need to get in a car or truck during your visit.
Since there are so many miles of trails, and many different activities (especially over Memorial Day Weekend!), there are many options for staying a while. While there are the traditional hotels and motels, it is also a common area for cabins and rentals. If you are looking to check the town out, consider finding a place to stay and enjoy it for a few days.
This was truly not meant to be a sales pitch, and no one is paying me to say any of this! We have visited the Hurley area multiple times (over Memorial Day Weekend no less), and it can truly be a great place to ride, enjoy the outdoors, and make some memories.
